Not Rothko … But Certainly Worth Framing

Kids often like to make drawings for people. By the time they reach the age of four, most children have learned to use visual representations as a means of communicating their understanding of the world. My nephews and nieces – like many other kids their age – are prolific artists.

I have in my possession a decade’s worth of scribbles, drawings and paintings given to me by those little people. The above drawing is possibly the oldest piece in my collection. It is also the first attempt by one of them to depict “mononcle” Eric beating the drums. This is not a Rothko but it is certainly worth framing.
